Alyssa Pitts SLP Speech Language Pathologist Holding Toys for Speech Therapy

Alyssa Pitts, M.S., CCC-SLP

I am a licensed speech-language pathologist who works with children of all ages. I graduated with a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University in 2020, and a bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from San Diego State University in 2018.

I’m passionate about helping children affected by articulation disorders, phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), language delays, and developmental language disorder (DLD). I stay updated on the most recent research in the field.  I am a registered member of Apraxia Kids, and have completed trainings and continuing education courses for DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing), ReST (Rapid Syllable Transition Training), and the Meaningful Speech training/certification for gestalt language processing.

I hold my speech-language pathologist license through the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and  Hearing Aid Dispensers Board, and I am a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Working in private practice has been conducive to delivering high quality, specialized strategies directly, without any middle man. I value the 1:1 connection with each client and their family. From my previous years of experience working in an elementary school and a clinic, it’s become clear to me that play-based sessions are the most effective for my clients. I incorporate my love for play and silliness into each session, finding which approach works best for each individual.
